Nathan Peterson is a lifelong Minnesotan, small business owner, and Jackson City Councilman running for the Minnesota Senate. Raised on a family farm, Nathan built his career as an over-the-road truck driver before starting his own trucking business hauling manufacturing equipment across the Midwest. A strong conservative and father of three, Nathan has served his community by saving a local daycare, restoring accountability to emergency services, and supporting law enforcement. He’s running to defend life, protect the Second Amendment, and fight for rural Minnesota families.
Background
Nathan was born and raised just north of Jackson, growing up on his family’s farm. Farming taught him responsibility early—long days, tight margins, and the importance of doing things the right way. He attended Mountain Lake Christian Day School, graduated from Mountain Lake High School, and went on to Southeast Technical College in South Dakota.
Those early lessons shaped Nathan’s values: hard work, accountability, and respect for the people who make Minnesota run.

Family
Nathan and his wife, Brandy, live in Jackson with their three children—Trevon, Layla, and Brielle. Brandy works in patient administration at Sanford Medical Center in Jackson, and their daughters attend Jackson County Central public school.
For Nathan, family and community are everything. He believes strong families are the foundation of strong communities—and strong communities are the foundation of a strong Minnesota.
Public Service
Service has always been part of Nathan’s life. He previously served on city council in South Dakota and now serves on the Jackson City Council.
There, Nathan played a central role in saving Little Huskies Learning Center, a daycare that was just 24 hours from closing, a shutdown that would have impacted over 100 families. Nathan led the effort to stabilize operations, rebuild staffing, and put the center on solid financial footing. Today, the daycare is fully staffed and self-sufficient.
Nathan also helped revive the Jackson Ambulance Advisory Board, which had been defunct while the service accumulated more than $700,000 in debt. By restoring oversight, accountability, and community involvement, he helped put the ambulance service back on a sustainable path.
Beyond local government, Nathan served as Captain of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Reserve, volunteers with local law enforcement, and remains a strong advocate for first responders. He has served as President of the Jackson County BPOU, as Deputy Chair of Minnesota’s First Congressional District GOP, and has worked on multiple legislative and congressional campaigns.
Why He's Running
Nathan is running for the Minnesota Senate because rural Minnesota is being forgotten. Farmers, small businesses, manufacturers, and working families are paying the price for reckless spending, unchecked fraud, soft-on-crime policies, and runaway taxes.
Nathan is a strong conservative who will stand up for life, defend the Second Amendment, back law enforcement, protect parents’ rights, and restore accountability to state government. He’s running to ensure District 21 has a strong, local voice that understands what it means to live and work here.
